Cancer

It has been said that at some point in your life you will be touched by cancer.

When it was my grandfather, I could say, yes, I've been touched by cancer.  Even when it was my mom's girlfriend or her other girlfriends husband-in a distant way I could say, yes my life has been touched by cancer.

And then it happens to your best friend's husband who is the same age as you and is doing life right beside you.  At that point, cancer does not touch your life.  It hits you upside the head and knocks the wind out of you.

So this is me asking you to pray for my girlfriend Kelli and her husband Rick.  If you are interested in the details, you can check out her blog at www.rickandkelli.blogspot.com.  But basically he has an aggressive form of testicular cancer that has been removed but had already spread to his lungs and abdomen.    On Monday, he will start nine weeks of chemotherapy.  Rick and Kelli have three small children and one on the way.  You can imagine that a very sick daddy would be difficult in that scenario.  Both Rick and Kelli are a beautiful picture of faith at this point as they are filled with hope and trust in God.  Thus far, you could hardly call them shaken by this.  Maybe a little unsteady at first, but all in all, their feet are firmly planted in the knowledge that God is in control.

Please keep them in your prayers as they go through this journey.
