We have just returned from the hospital. All went well. I couldn't possibly repeat the name of all the procedures they did but I can touch on the important findings.
-The adenoids came out. The doctor said they were infected and dripping with puss. Gross.
-The bronchoscopy did not show anything out of the ordinary. Her bronchials looked normal in size and no apparent infection was found. They will send off the saline that they washed with for testing to look for resistant bacteria or fat deposits. The doctor did find some secretions in the lungs but nothing he was really concerned about. They will test that as well.
-Something they did would show if she were aspirating her food into her lungs.
-They did some biopsy in her sinus area to look for bacteria. They also sent off the adenoids they removed to test for bacteria.
Amelia only remembers her bubble gum mask (gas) and then waking up and being brought back to her room. She was pretty upset coming out of the anesthesia but is calming down pretty good now. She complains that her throat hurts which the nurse said is from the biopsy where they removed some tissue from the back of her throat area. She is happy to be eating mint chocolate chip ice cream as we speak. We are hoping to go back to school tomorrow and get back to normal.
All the tests should be back by Tuesday of next week. Of course I will keep you all posted.
Thank you for your prayers.
