I'm not sure which one I'm most fired up about today: people who don't vote at all or people who vote that have no idea what they're actually voting for.
There really is no excuse for the former. I mean, what's the argument, that one vote won't matter? Well lots of one votes add up to be thousands. And that could actually make a difference. Come on! Be an American. Go vote.
Then there's the latter. Don't even get me started about all the people this time around that are voting for a candidate they actually know nothing about. Look, I don't care who you vote for if you actually know why you are making that choice. Even if it isn't for the candidate I would personally choose-that's what makes this America. You get to have your own opinion, your own beliefs about what's important. I'm perfectly comfortable with people who vote differently from me when they are making an informed choice. The problem is many people this time around are voting with little or no knowledge about their candidate. That is very annoying. Especially when that candidate is probably going to be our next president. Uggh.
Please click on the Comment button and chime in that you voted. Not WHO you voted for, just that you voted. I will at least be comforted that everyone I know took their American privilege and responsibility to vote.

Yeah I voted. Fat lot of good it'll do.
I voted this morning although I did leave the wastewater supervisor blank because I had no idea that anyone was even running for that, and I did actually do some research on the ballot and my choices. I don't think they were even on my sample ballot. Today at pre-k the kids voted and I will have you know that Scooby Doo won for the favorite cartoon.
Yes I voted....and you know I feel exactly like you! It makes me sick to have all these people voting for a person who they know nothing about!!!! AHHH!!! It makes me so mad!
I voted! :-) Why do you assume people don't know who they're voting for? I'd be willing to bet that there are just as many uneducated voters for one candidate as there are for the other.
-- Sara...or maybe I could just go by "D-A" for "devil's-advocate"...not literally of course...or maybe "TIYS" for "thorn in your side"? Love you!
I voted with as much information on all the issues as I could cram into my head...
so most of my ballot was completed.
And I figure just b/c someone is newer to the political scene than another, doesn't mean one cannot get enough info about them to make an informed choice between the two.
I got there right after 7am- no lines! I tried to vote early, but the line stretched out the door and down the block and I decided to wait until the big day- more exciting that way, anyhow.
Nolia was peeking over the keyborad while I was reading your blog and recognized Amelia. ;-)
ja
Sara-I love your "DA" comments, and no I don't mean Dumb Ass! And no, you are not a thorn in my side!
It is true, however, that many people voted for Obama because they wanted change with little to no information on what that change actually meant or would look like. I'm sure you saw or heard of the news reporter asking people on the street about their candidate. They would ask them if this or that was why they were voting for Obama but would then state McCain's platform. Almost everyone agreed with the false information. I know this was just one illustration, but I believe many people voted with not much more information. I am not saying, of course, that there were not many intelligent informed voters like yourself that chose Obama. Obviously-he is the new president elect! We will soon all know just what his version of change looks like.
