Crafty Creations

This is my 100th post!  I wish it were more blog-worthy!

When I was a teacher, I got gifts ranging from apple figurines from the dollar store to $50 gift certificates to a great restaurant.  More often than not it was on the crappy end of the spectrum with a few meaningful gifts sprinkled in between.

Now I'm the mom that is giving the teacher gifts and of course I don't want to be a crappy gift giver.  But on the other hand, there is no way a gift certificate of any less than embarrassing amount would be in our budget.  After all, my kids do have seven teachers, not counting the Sunday School and speech teachers.  All together, I have 13 teacher gifts to give.  There is always the option of just not giving these people gifts.  But they spend a lot of time and do a lot for my children.  That makes them important to me.  And they are important to the children, most of all.

Needless to say, I had to come up with a crafty idea to gift all these special people.  Well, I would have had to if my friend Lauren hadn't come up with the idea first and passed it on to my friend Kelli, who then thankfully passed it on to me.  It took me a little more time than I planned, but all in all, I enjoyed making them and are pleased with the way they turned out.  Hooray for inexpensive but hopefully not crappy gifts!

Very impressive! I too, have been trying to come up with something cute, and inexpensive for teachers. Great idea!

For some reason, I tried replying to your comment earlier, and couldn't figure out how to do it, so I posted it on your facebook. I think I'm slowly but surely figuring this out :).

Another idea that someone gave me this year: The did a fancy little cross stitch lid for a quart jar that says oodles of noodles, then filled the jar with egg noodles, and attached a recipe to the side. It was really a thoughtful gift, and not too expensive.
