This weekend we took Jason's parents for a little trip to Orlando-our Christmas present to them. It actually ended up being a present to ourselves not only because we had a wonderful time with the Tomlinson's but also because we were child-free. (Thank you, Mom!)
We spent the day browsing stores we don't have like the outlet malls, IKEA, and Home Depot Expo. My big bargain of the day was finding the exact CROCs I had purchased the night before for $25/each for only$9.99 at the outlet mall. As I was driving away, I was kicking myself for not calling my friends Kelli and Stacie to get their kids' size. Luckily, Jason will be in Orlando more often now so we can stock up for all our friends. What a bargain! I can return the one's I bought at Learning Express and get back in good favor with my husband!
One of the laughing points of the shopping day was watching a lady in the car beside us as we waited for the red light. She was apparently oblivious that we were in bumper to bumper traffic with people in every direction because she (no exaggerating, I promise) used three different fingers, all the way up to her knuckle, to pick her nose. That booger must have been way up there because she was on a mission to get this thing out of her nose. As each finger proved unsuccessful, she would stick the next finger in. It was disgusting! Tommy threatened to get out of the car and hand her a handkerchief. Come on, lady, people every direction are watching you. At least wait until you are in the privacy of your own home!
We had an early dinner at PF Chang's. Can you say chicken lettuce wraps? Need I say any more?
After checking into our hotel and resting for a bit, it was time for the main affair- the 9:00 Cirque Du Soleil show. Jason and I had seen it before a few years ago but we thought it would be fun to take his parents. I didn't expect to enjoy it as much the second time around, most things aren't quite as good the second time around because you already know what to expect. The element of surprise is gone. But this show impressed us just as much the second time around. You just cannot go wrong with that show. It will delight anyone of any age. I watched again in sheer amazement at the amount of practice the performers must do to perfect each trick. They are in awesome shape. Just watching them made me want to get up and go work out!
Jason and I were so excited to go to sleep that night, knowing that we wouldn't have any children forcing us out of bed at 6 am. We both knew we wouldn't manage to actually sleep in, but just getting to wake up without three little ones needing you immediately was a real treat. We both slept wonderfully, with a little help from Ambien. I wasn't taking any chances of losing the opportunity to sleep without interruption. Who knows when that will happen again.
I know I've made this post sound like the weekend was all about us, but really it was to spend some quality time with Tommy and Judy. We really enjoyed getting to visit with them just as grown ups, without our attention being divided by meeting the needs of our children. We think Mom and Dad really enjoyed the show and our time together-- which was our main goal for the weekend.

Sounds like you had a wonderful time. Chris & I have been talking about stealing away for a weekend, but it likely won't be for another month or so (I don't want to have to drag along the pump with me, although it may come to that...).
Glad y'all are doing so well, and congrats on the big job promotion- v. exciting!
