I feel like I've gotten to know Lane in a whole new way over the past couple of months. His speech has gotten so much clearer and we can actually have some pretty involved conversations together. He is
constantly stating his likes and dislikes. Here are some things that Lane is up to these days:
- almost completely potty trained. Doesn't really like the poop part but with a little help from Miralax, he is well on his way.
- tells me about 20 times a day that he loves me. He really is the sweet one.
- doesn't like any movie that has a remotely scary part. This even includes a Franklin movie that has some scene with an eagle. You know how scary those Franklin episodes can be! He loves Diego, Max and Ruby, and most anything on Noggin.
- calls Amelia "YaYa". It will be a sad day for me when he finally gets out her name clearly. I think it is so cute the way he says it.
- loves stuffed animals, especially ones that represent something, like a trip to the zoo. Carries them around all day, pretends they are doing whatever he is.
- No longer claims dog-dog, his closest friend since infancy, because his mom had the audacity to sew a tag on him with his name and phone number. If you ask him why he doesn't like dog-dog anymore he will tell you, "Mommy put my name on it".
- enjoys roaming around the house exclaiming, "hiney, hiney, penis, penis". Sometimes we aren't so sure his clear speech is a good thing!
- has very particular opinions about what he eats and wears. He doesn't mix it up too much either. He pretty much wants Cheerios for breakfast, PB&J for lunch, and wants to wear shorts at all times.
- doesn't play too well by himself and thinks that mom, dad, or YaYa should be playing with him at all times. We are working on this. Some days I think if I have to play Diego for one more minute I am going to die!
- seems to be an indoor man, often explaining it is too sunny, too windy, or too foggy to play outside. I'm not sure how this is going to play out with Jason's dream for him to be star linebacker.
- if I can't play with him, he would rather help me do whatever I'm doing than go entertain himself (so opposite of his sister). He will unload dishwashers, wipe off counters, bring me the dirty laundry baskets, etc.
It is interesting to find the kid who, by the looks of him, is all rough and tough, is actually the sweetest and the most sensitive of the three. Don't get me wrong, he won't turn down the opportunity to "rough you up" but he also wants to snuggle up with you and tell you how much he loves you. He is so precious to us.
