Princess & Pirate

Saturday we went to a Princess & Pirate Brunch at my girlfriends' church. It was a really cute event.  The premise was to tell the girls that they are princesses because they are daughters of the King and that God loves and treasures them.  The pirate connection I'm not so sure of because I wasn't a part of that but I know it involved a treasure hunt and the explanation that they are God's treasure.  My girlfriends Jody and Meg did a great job planning and working on the event.  I was a Maid in Waiting, the adult in charge of a table of 5-7 year old girls.  I was the only one in a Disney princess costume. The other adults had old wedding dresses or bridesmaid dresses with tiara's.  I felt a little silly but it was all I could come up with.  Next year I am getting my friend Alison's old bridesmaid dress from my mom's house.  It is very princess-y. Lane was not too thrilled with the pirate costume but after a big and long fit, he got over it and managed to keep it on for the whole event.  I must say he made a stinkin' cute pirate!
