O.K. so I get that millions of people work full time jobs AND have children. I know this. But when your main occupation is Stay At Home Mom, the occasional work day can be a bit more stressful than its worth. Don't get me wrong, I love my job. It is one of the few things in life that I feel I am very good at. Who would've thought? I used to be nervous to stand in front of five people and now I train 60 people at a time for eight hours at a time. It is strangely satisfying to feel so good at something. However, organizing the kids for a full days care from the sitter, preparing myself to train, digging out my work clothes that are still in a pile from when I worked a month ago (that's not because I'm gross, I'm actually good at laundry, I just haven't had enough clothes to do a delicate load) washing and ironing them, and then showering and blowing out my hair all to leave by 6:00 a.m this morning can be slightly overwhelming. Needless to say, I was in my frantic, stress mode all day yesterday as I prepared for this day. This frenzy I find myself in every day before I work is Jason's least favorite thing. It drives him crazy.
I discovered tonight while talking to my friend Jo, that I am not the only crazy mom that leaves three pages of typed instructions for the babysitter. She, too, leaves notes about what channels the children are allowed to watch on T.V. She even goes so far as to specify the times they are allowed to watch the television. This is so comforting. To know that there are others of my sort out there. Thank you, Jo.
So after dinner, Jason took the kids out on a golf cart ride. I was excited to have some time to unwind. Dishes were done, Owen was down, the house was quiet. Sigh. Five minutes later, Jason called to inform me he was rushing home with the kids. Amelia had fallen off the monkey bars onto her arm (that she has already broken 2 times in her short 4 years). After thirty minutes of a very high pitched scream that Tylenol with Codeine didn't touch, we decided to take her to the emergency room. This is what I mean by never a dull moment. He's there now. I'll let you know if it's broken. Hopefully not.
