Twice Drenched

Two unavoidable truths about summer in Florida: unbearable heat and torrential rain. Today we experienced both of those. This morning we rode our golf cart down to a neighbors house to play and swim. We should know better and swim while we had the chance first thing in the morning. The kids were playing so nicely inside, though, happy to have other people's toys to play with rather than their own. Midday, we finally decided to gear up for the pool. Not ten minutes later out of nowhere the thunderstorm began. It was quite the ordeal. Our golf cart had Owen's carseat belted in the back and a few other random items getting drenched. I was highly irritated to be "stuck" at my friends house when it was about to be sacred nap time. We got a short break from the storm, loaded up and I said a few silent prayers as we drove home through too near lightening and thunder. So, once should be enough for the day, huh? Just now I loaded up the kids to run down to another neighbors house to welcome them home from a week long trip. I was thinking myself oh so smart to take the car this time, just in case. Well, we were not inside more than a minute before the sky fell out. This time even the car wasn't going to keep us from getting soaked-just getting from the garage to the car. Usually you can wait these things out, but not when it is a little boys bedtime. Cranky babies will force you out into the rain. I think we have dried off AGAIN for the second time today. Don't you just love Florida in the summertime?
