Weather Check

I think I need to do a formal check on the weather before I leave the house from now on. What is up with me getting stuck at some inconvenient place with my three kids as we try to wait out the rain? I have barely been posting on this blog for a month now and I know I've mentioned at least three bad run-ins of this sort so far. Isn't that a little much for one person? You'd think I was just waiting for the sky to be dark gray with rumbling thunder to run out with the kids thinking,"Hey, this will be fun. We'll get drenched again in the pouring rain." But today, for instance, there was no obvious sign of rain. It was a little overcast, maybe, but no thunder, no lightening, no ominous clouds. So I drag the kids out after nap time to go get some bread. I wasn't sure how I was going to pull off not cooking tonight without any bread. Plus, I'd need it tomorrow for lunch and going tomorrow doesn't fit into my plans. As I'm driving I notice how hungry I am, reason this must also be why all three of my children are whining, and feel affirmed by the clock which read 4:45. Pizza Hut it is! I'll swing by, order a pizza, walk next door to the grocery store, pick up the bread (and a few other things while I'm there), and then the pizza would be ready. Just as I'm paying for the few items I had, the sky fell out. "You have GOT to be kidding me!" I didn't realize that I was talking out loud until the cashier looked at me confused as if I were talking to her. I apologized, explained I was talking about the rain, and made my way to the exit. There was absolutely no way I was doing it. Yes, I do realize it's JUST water. But there is just something about getting three kids in car seats, getting the groceries (and this time pizza) in the trunk, and then finding myself in the drivers side sitting in a puddle of water. It just flat out puts me in a bad mood. So what else was there to do but sit on a bench inside the Take-Out only pizza hut with my children inside a grocery cart eating my pizza? I was just laughing inside about the funny situations I seem to be finding myself in lately. By the time we had eaten the [whole] pizza, the rain had slowed to a heavy sprinkle making now realistic to head for the car. Also funny to me is that my children didn't find it the least bit strange that we popped open our pizza right there and started eating it. This seemed completely acceptable to them. I didn't even get that many weird looks. It was raining so hard that I think people actually understood. Even this young, under 20 guy pulled up to the Pizza Hut curb, crawled to the passenger side of his truck to climb out and dodge the rain. This made me feel not-so- ridiculous. If this guy is taking measures to avoid getting wet, surely a mother of three small children is justified for sitting in the Take-Out lobby eating dinner!

Update on Amelia: Her procedures are schedule for August 21. I know it will include a bronchoscapy, some scope of the sinus area, and a few other things while they're in there. Hopefully, this will give us some answers. I was hoping to do the GI scope at the same time because she is increasingly complaining about her stomach (which can affect asthma symptoms strangely enough) but they couldn't arrange all three at once. So this is where we start.

By the way: Notice I added a counter to my blog? I gave up on you guys making comments. I decided if my mom, dad, sister and friend Alison were the only ones reading it, I could just stop blogging and start emailing them. The counter does show that there are more of you reading this than just those 4. So even though I have no idea who you are, I guess I'll keep it up!

How DOES this happen to you so often??? There must be a sign there, but I'm not sure what! :) I'm sure your adorable kids thought it was fun to eat pizza while watching the rain.

Um, late afternoon thunderstorms are called that for a reason.
Just saying.
