The other day at the doctor's office Amelia was looking at a book that she has looked through at least a thousand times since she was a baby. It is this poorly written baby board book called What Would Jesus Do? Despite the fact that I think the book is not good, we have read it over and over through the years, as young children seem to love.
For some reason, on this day, she noticed for the first time that in one picture Jesus had scars on his hands from the wounds he received on the cross. She pointed them out to me and asked why Jesus had these boo-boos. I gave her a very elementary explanation of what happened to him on the cross.
She had the most sincere, concerned look on her face as she asked, "Mama, does OUR Jesus have those scars on his hands?".
This absolutely melted my heart and does again as I write this. I am so glad she refers to him as Our Jesus. He is becoming personal to her. Maybe in spite of all my imperfections, it is all starting to sink in.
Today, out of the blue in the Publix parking lot she asked, "Mommy, what are sins?". Unfortunately, in the middle of my explanation I gave her a very vivid illustration of just exactly what sin is as I completely lost it with her brother. Like I said, despite my imperfections......
These are sweet times for me.

This is how it was with Tori when she was a little younger than Amelia.
Such sweet babies! Although, don't expect them all to be that tuned in!!
Shoot, now you got me all nostalgic. I'll have to go write about that!
