Dinner Guest

I know you've all done this ice breaker before. You know the one. If you could have dinner with anyone in the world, who would it be? I often ask this question to make the introductions at my trainings more interesting. You can learn a lot about a person by listening to their answer.

For instance, if they say Hilary Clinton you can be sure they are not a Christian. Kidding. (That is a sarcastic reference to a previous post.) Seriously though, if they say Michael Stipe you can be sure they were really into music in the 80's. If they say Britney Spears, you can be certain they don't have a brain in their head. You get what I'm saying.

If I could have dinner with anyone in the world, it would without a doubt be Sara Groves. I L-O-V-E her. She is an unbelievable song writer. Her lyrics make me feel like I know her, like we have everything in common. She says things I think, she just says them a lot better. And she makes me think about things I never have. That's even better.

Speaking of her lyrics, I have some for a friend of mine that is going through a rough time. I could probably pull out a Sara Groves lyric for every life situation. Anyway, as if being nine months pregnant isn't enough, my sweet friend has real life heartache that weighs slightly heavier than the joy that is just around the corner. I can't wait to meet you little Analise.

Loving a person just the way they are, it's no small thing

It takes some time to see things through

Sometimes things change, sometimes we're waiting

We need grace either way

Hold on to me

I'll hold on to you

Let's find out the beauty of seeing things through

There's a lot of pain in reaching out and trying

It's a vulnerable place to be

Love and pride can't occupy the same spaces baby

Only one makes you free

Hold on to me

I'll hold on to you

Let's find out the beauty of seeing things through

If we go looking for offense

We're going to find it

If we go looking for real love

We're going to find it

Loving a person just the way they are, it's no small thing

It's the whole thing.

So,if you could have dinner with anyone in the world, who would it be?

If the person would make dinner, I would probably eat with just about anyone! I would probably pick my grandmother (Mimi - the sparkly one!) I have missed her a lot since she passed away 2 years ago. I'll make dinner though because she was a horrible cook! Do you need soccer ribbon for Amelia. I have a ton left over because I had to buy the whole roll.

I would pick Stephen King. Without a doubt. I know that's not a deep, intellectual answer, but there ya go.
