Disney World

We took Amelia and Lane to the Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom last weekend. THANK YOU MOM for keeping Owen. It was so much more enjoyable without him. Sorry, little guy, it's the truth. You are super high maintenance right now. We thought we were picking a cooler, less crowded time of year. Wrong. Magic Kingdom was as crowded as I've ever seen it and was it ever hot. I'm not saying it wasn't great. It was. The kids had a fabulous time. Those of you who know about our Sea World experience will be happy to know the trip was a huge success in comparison. We only pushed one small stroller and Lane was very cooperative about getting in and out of it. We went with another family, The Pardue's, who have a daughter just younger than Amelia. We really enjoyed their company. Just having another team there made things so much easier. We could wait in line for one thing while the guys went to Fast Pass another. We could go to the bathroom while the others saved a table for lunch. The adults even got to ride a roller coaster or two. Day Two we went to Animal Kingdom. I don't know if I just had low expectations because of the mixed reviews I had heard or what, but we LOVED Animal Kingdom. It was super shady, less crowded, the shows were great, the character meet and greet had hardly any lines to wait in. It was the most enjoyable day.

We rented this four bedroom condo about ten minutes from Disney. You can get them dirt cheep right now. It was so much less expensive than even a moderate hotel room. The idea was finding a place the grown ups could hang out and play games (which we never played) after the kids went down. We were attempting to let the kids all sleep in one room. Both nights Amelia ended up moving to a room by herself. After several ignored warnings to go to sleep, Stacie went up stairs to separate the remaining two, Lane and Ella. When she got up there Lane was on top of Ella. Surprised Stacie said, "What are you two doing?" Ella replied so nonchalantly, "He's just roughing me up!". We died laughing. Come to find out, that's what she says when she's talking about wrestling. We're relieved we don't have anything to worry about yet!

Highlights of the Disney trip

  • Amelia got a certificate for Best Dumbo Flier

  • We all got VIP seats for the parade at Animal Kingdom. All the characters stopped and hugged or high fived all three of the kids. Amelia was ecstatic. Lane was trying to show every character his $2.00 arcade animal his dad won for him. It was pretty funny.

  • The Mt. Everest roller coaster at Animal Kingdom was awesome!

  • It's A Small World was still the biggest hit with the kids. Some things never change and never should change.

  • Fast Pass. How did we ever do Disney without them?

  • All 3 kids were happy almost the whole time.
